Description: Fibras naturales Canarias is a Spin Off of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria that gives continuity to the Life baqua project of the European Union and whose objective is to recover banana waste. Specifically, we extract natural fibers from banana residues through a patented process. Through this process we are able to obtain the fiber itself but also two by-products: pulp and water. The natural fiber is directed to sectors such as textiles or bioplastic while the pulp is directed to sectors such as construction or aquaculture. In fact, one of our next products may be to make acoustic panels with this pulp. With all this we are able to obtain raw materials that give rise to the creation of a circular economy wherever there are banana plantations, one of the largest plantations in the world and with a recurring residue, its pseudostem.
